Finland: Vattenfall developing weatherproof network

Helsinki, 14 February, 2006 — Power company Vattenfall is developing an electricity network that is more weatherproof than present networks. The aim is to develop technology to remove short power cuts completely, to decrease the amount of other interruptions in service in normal conditions to half of the present, as well as limit interruptions in difficult conditions to under 6 hours.

Initially, the reliability of the network will be improved also with other measures.
