Finland: Statute on updating IT management committee

Helsinki, 28 February, 2006 — In Finland, the Government has issued a statute on 23 February 2006 concerning the Advisory Committee on Information Management in Public Administration, JUHTA. The purpose of the stature is to update the Advisory Committee and its tasks to correspond to the guidelines of the information society programme.

The task of the Advisory Committee is to manage measures to promote the development of the information society. The aim is to ensure the availability, efficiency and quality of public services in the whole of Finland. In addition, the Advisory Committee is to monitor the Ministries' funding of municipal IT projects, and make proposal concerning them. In addition, the Committee should promote data protection and security as well as good IT administration.
